This is the sacred temple of Swayambhu Shri 1008 Maa Adi Shakti Kushmanda Durga Ji, located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), India. Maa Kushmanda is revered as the fourth form of the Navadurga and is worshipped as the primordial Divine Mother, the source of creation. According to tradition, it was at this holy place that the Divine Mother granted King Sudarshan her divine darshan. During the righteous battle fought by King Sudarshan, the monkeys also stood beside him in support. After the victory, at the request of King Sudarshan, the Goddess rested at this very sacred place, making it a site of immense spiritual significance. The temple is popularly known as Shri Durga Kund, Varanasi, and is revered as the ancient Maha Siddhi Peeth of Maa Bhagwati.
